Family R.E.A.D.Y. (Resilient Families, Empowered Caregivers, Advocacy, Deepening Community & School Partnerships, and Youth Success) is a family engagement and empowerment initiative designed to strengthen family stability, increase caregiver confidence, build advocacy skills, foster meaningful community and school partnerships, and support positive outcomes for children and youth.
Through ongoing educational experiences, resources, and support, families develop the knowledge, skills, and connections needed to become active partners in their children’s academic, social, and emotional development. This initiative is offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year in 6-week increments to align with and support all our youth-serving programs, ensuring families receive consistent engagement, education, and resources alongside their children’s participation. Aligned with the goals of Pre-K Jumpstart, Saturday Academy, and Inspired Minds.
01.What are Family Ready Workshops?
Family Ready Workshops is a family-centered workshop series designed to strengthen the connection between families, schools, and student success. As part of the Family Ready Initiative, the program provides parents and caregivers with practical tools, resources, and support that help create strong home environments and positive educational outcomes for children.
02.Who can participate?
Parents, guardians, and caregivers of students enrolled in our programs are encouraged to participate.
03.Why are Family Ready Workshops important?
Research shows that strong family engagement and positive relationships between families and schools play a major role in student success. When families feel informed, connected, and supported, students demonstrate stronger academic motivation, improved behavior, increased confidence, and better long-term outcomes.
04.Are the workshops connected to my child’s program?
Yes. All Lunch N Learn sessions are intentionally aligned with the developmental goals and focus areas of our youth programs, including:
- Pre-K Jumpstart
- Saturday Academy
- Inspired Minds
This ensures families receive relevant information and strategies that directly support their child’s learning and growth.
05.Is there a cost to participate?
No. Family Ready Workshops are offered free of charge to participating families.
06.What topics are covered?
Workshop topics may include:
- Academic readiness
- Effective communication with schools
- Positive behavior support
- Social-emotional wellness
- Family routines and structure
- Financial literacy
- College and career awareness
- Parenting strategies
- Community resources and advocacy
07.Is attendance required?
Families are expected to attend a minimum of 4 out of the 6 Family Ready Workshop sessions to successfully complete the program. Consistent participation is essential to gaining the knowledge, tools, and resources provided throughout the series and to strengthening family-school partnerships that support student success. Families who attend 5 out of 6 sessions will be eligible to receive the program’s enhanced completion incentive, recognizing their commitment to active engagement and continued learning.
08.Are there incentives for participation?
Yes. Families who consistently attend workshops may be eligible for participation incentives, recognition opportunities, resource giveaways, certificates of completion, family support items, or special program celebrations. Incentives are designed to encourage engagement and celebrate families’ commitment to student success.
09.What is the format of the workshops?
Sessions are interactive, welcoming, and discussion-based. Families can expect practical learning activities, open conversations, guest speakers, and opportunities to connect with other caregivers and community resources.
10.How do these workshops support students?
By strengthening families, communication, and home-school partnerships, Family Ready Workshops helps create stable, supportive environments that increase student motivation, academic readiness, engagement, and lifelong learning success.
